posting posting

We took a break from recording this weekend and traveled to Victoria, British Columbia. We hopped aboard a large ferry then proceeded to explore the town's museums, alleys and libation distribution situations . We were fortunate enough to meet up with some very nice people, some of whom play in the band Vincat. After a long night of fun, we had danced, created art and had a genuinely good time. Now we are back at the Hive Studios in the midst of mixing the upcoming record.

victoria is the bomb. we had some amazing vegan meals and other herbal remedies. thanks a shitload to kristian, crystal, drew, and emma for showing us how to get down in their town. check out their band Vincat.

Rachel: "So to close I'd like to pose the question: who likes to party? We like to party. never in my life have i known a joy like this. and if you're reading this, we and i mean me and sleepy sun, would love to play a show in seattle between the 23 and 30th, so help a sibling out.

green butter.

the last couple days have been very passionate and concentrated.
we have been blessed with the presence of 'birds fled from me' for the next week, as we put the finishing touches on the record. she came all the way up from santa cruz to lay her fucking bulgarian chants all over our shit (so bad ass). as rachel was crossing the us/canadian border, they wouldn't let her pass for god knows what reason. they had the audacity to actually hold her there till around 6am canadian time. however, we told thems m'f'ers to hand over our honey pie. she has been making sweet musical love to our tracks ever since.
last night, we got out of the studio to have a few beers at a local pub with colin and ryan of ladyhawk. it was grand and we got a lil' loose.
matty's is really sick. his throat sounds like its closing in on him. a little bit like the walls of this studio.
hb is still constant.
rachel says that bret's heart is a "white dove trapped in the dirty streets of his mind." she is a romantic.

we're done recording? can i say that? probably not. we're pretty much done recording and have moved on to mixing.  tomorrow we take a short break as we're headed up to victoria to become sane once again.
we miss you.

we're nearly finished tracking about 8 songs, with a few more to go, then on to mixing them. we're all very excited about the finished product. i think there's going to be a song for everyone on this record. keep your ears open.

GREETINGS FROM THE HIVE!

hello?
is anybody home?
today is day number 2 at the hive creative labs in burnaby, british columbia. since yesterday, we've been hard at work tracking the first song. so far its sounding really groovy, a drum/bass showcase.
the sessions have been between 1pm to 11pm. afterwards, there's an entire night session for a few nocturnal recording artists, while we stay in the front part of the building, which we've made our living room, eating burritos, za, and pbjb&h sandy's made by HB all while playing videogames and watching tv shows.
we're all starting to smell pretty bad, and a few of us are battling minor colds.
its pretty cold here in the far northwest. it snowed last night, but we dont go out there. unless we need cash, or a brisk walk.

here are some photo's i took from yesterday.

we'll be bloggin' more.
we can't wait to share this music we've been creating for the past several months.
peace in the mountain range.
